A Course in Weight Loss, Day 6 – Lesson 4

We discuss what evoking the ‘real me’ means to us. We have to be comfortable enough to take off the armor we put on before we can lose the weight. We acknowledge that the excess weight was formed through acts of protection or suffering and in getting in touch with our true Spiritual body, we are giving birth to our joy.

Lizabeth describes her experience with emotional eating and how that never leads to feeling better. We are often looking for another distraction when we turn from pain to food or another addiction. Kind of like smashing your finger and someone offering to step on your toe to make you forget about your pain.

We use the exercise in this lesson to get in mind the new picture of ourselves. It was a fun exercise! Lizabeth treats it like picking out a new outfit and then has to give herself the ok to want that. Cindy has a little bit of trouble finding models her age with the body type she is looking for but she is finding a new appreciation for the body she has now.

We also share our experience with body painting with an artist. The experience was helpful and healing for us both and helped us see our bodies as a work of art. If you are interested in body painting, you can contact Alicia Roche (the artist that painted us) here: http://www.aliciaroche.com/#!about-alicia

The letter to our ‘thin selves’ seems to have been an easier and more playful exercise for us. We are seeing positive results! How about you? Share with us your journey so we can all learn!

Our second video is another update on our 10 Day Food Challenge. We also talk with our personal trainer about portion, sizes and exercise. You will love David Nuckols, our trainer, from Get Toned Fitness here in Bowling Green. He has a LOT of good information that I think you will enjoy. You can check out his site. If you are in South Central Kentucky, you should stop by and see David.

Please add your comments below so that we are fed by you. Also, invite your friends to join in the discussion so that we can be fed by them too!

  1. Vivian Miller says:

I didn’t notice the mix up and really didn’t care. I think what I wind up watching and listening to is what I am supposed to watch and listen to. Kinda a divine order.

My eating is still not where I want it to be and I don’t think I’m wanting too much as far as expectations. I am going to withhold judgment and keep going. I tend to cook what my mom likes and that is my excuse.

Let me do some journaling and see what comes up. I don’t know if its a stress thing with my mom’s Alz or if that is just an excuse. I would appreciate feedback. I know about food and making good choices and lost about 25 pounds last summer when I was ill and lost my appetite for a couple months. I have since made up for that. Also, I have not fit the gym into my workout, but I’m still paying for it. Go figure. Right now feeling disgusted. This too will pass. Perhaps this is my meltdown Lisabeth.

    • Anytime we move the weight around in the boat there is a counter-movement. I am uncovering a lot of stuff myself and I am avoiding trying to label what it is. I am growing through this too Vivian. It is a struggle to keep going right now. I got out tonight with a friend and it has helped some. I think I needed a break from the processing. Just a different focus for a bit.

Perhaps you need a break too. Can you call someone to sit with your Mom and you and a friend go out for a couple of hours?

This time is different. I have decided not to focus on the numbers, just how I feel in my skin. I am really disgusted right now too and I have to keep reminding myself that this is a process and the changes I want to see are in p-r-o-c-e-s-s. That sucks. I know.

What I also know is that you are the perfect creation you were intended to be RIGHT NOW, just as you are. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t be. I am growing through this with you and you are never alone. Perhaps this is a meltdown. That’s a good thing. We cannot be remolded without a return to a moldable shape. I see this instead as a reforming. So we are being reformed. Hang in there we will get through it.
